as we study the principle of "A good leader has good character"
--through Music, Poetry and Art--
Just as we learned about Leadership and Character through the lenses of:
LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
GEO-GENIUS
EUREKA!
now we are going to learn about it through the arts!
OPEN YOUR MIND
1. Check out this amazing slide show on sculptures designed from my friend. (She did edit it to a degree but please check ahead to make sure it works for your family.) Think about what you can learn about the character of good leadership as you study sculpture.2. Read "Book of Three" and take notes about examples of leadership or any other cool thing you find!
MAKE CONNECTIONS!
This week, take some time to find art that teach you truth about good character in leadership.
Here is one of my favorites:
Here is one of my favorites:
This can include videos, music, art, literature, characters in movies
Please take the time to post images of them or links. Please try and post and review them before Thursday
so they can be part of our conversation that day :D.
1. How is sculpting like leadership? What can we learn from sculpting about leadership?
2. As you read "Book of Three," notice different qualities of leadership (good and bad!) that the characters
show.
3. Taran is a young man--a peer--for all of you. He stumbles into the role of leader: sometimes taking it
on when he doesn't have the right to; sometimes stepping in when he needs to. Can you tell the difference?
-What experiences have you had in your life as you have stepped into leadership at good and bad times?
-What can you learn from Taran?
4. How are the characters being "sculpted" by their experiences in the book to become better leaders:
--Fflewddurr Fflam
--Eilonwy
--Taran
5. How has Heavenly Father "sculpted" you into becoming a better leader?
Consider watching this parable of the current bush
BE INSPIRED!
Take everything you have learned for the month and create something that helps express what makes a good leader!
Maybe it can be something about your own journey...
SHARE!

Helpful video about elocution tips! (1.5 min)
We found this cool picture that we looked at for one minute and then talked about everything that impressed us, especially in regards to what it taught us about leadership.

ReplyDeleteI found this sculpture and I thought it was really profound. It spoke to me about how, as children, we just want to connect with each other. But as we grow up, we create barriers because of pride, ignorance, insecurity, etc. Leadership is about letting all that go and just connecting with people like a child would.
